The young speedster started his career at the tender age of five in 2001. His go-cart racing career brought him over seventy-five feature wins on ten different race tracks. Included were two national wins, two Virginia State Series titles and three Tennessee State Series titles.

Michael had a spectacular rookie season in his Mod 4 stock car in 2008. His first victory in the Mod4 division came one month after his twelfth birthday in a photo finish. Michael went on to collect five victories in Mod4 division racing at Franklin County Speedway.

Michael was very impressive in the 2009 season. Since he moved into the Late Model style car, he garnered five wins, one at Franklin County Speedway in Late Model on April 4th and four at Orange County Speedway in the Limited Late Model division. Michael won the Limited Late Model division crown at Orange County Speedway posting four wins with no finishes outside the top three the entire season. This incredible year also changed the record books, at twelve years old Michael became the youngest Late Model / Limited Late Model stock car winner on record. Michael wasted no time breaking another record by capturing the Orange County Speedway Limited Late Model stock car championship shortly after turning thirteen years old.

The 2010 season continued to be record setting. Michael became NASCAR’s only fourteen year old division two winner in the United States and abroad. The victory at Motor Mile Speedway on September 11, 2010 etched his name in the record books as the youngest driver to win a feature event in the twenty two year history of Motor Mile Speedway. Michael also holds the same record at Franklin County Speedway and Orange County Speedway. Michael made a successful return to OCS on October 9, 2010 and captured his first Late Model Stock Car win at the Rougemont, NC Speedway.

Nascars' announcement in February 2011, lowering the age requirement to fourteen for a division one late model stock car license, allowed Michael on June 4th 2011 at the age of fourteen to become the youngest in Nascar history to win a division one late model stock car event with his win at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va. Michaels' name again went into the 2011 Nascar record books as the only fourteen year old division one feature winner in the United States and abroad. Michael received the Virginia State rookie of the year title at the season ending Nascar awards banquet in Charlotte, NC.

Michael has received Nascars' approval at fifteen years of age to compete in the Nascar K&N Pro Series, this approval will allow Michael to make his series debut in the 2012 season.
